2023 AID Convening Impact

A NOTE FROM

Stephen Coger

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ARKANSAS IMMIGRANT DEFENSE

It is with immense gratitude and genuine pleasure that I write to express my heartfelt appreciation for your attendance and active participation in the AID Convening 2023. The event was a resounding success, thanks to your enthusiastic engagement and support.

The AID Convening 2023 was a remarkable gathering of dedicated individuals who are deeply committed to making a positive impact on our community and the world at large. Your presence added value to the event, and your contributions, questions, and insights enriched the discussions and left an indelible mark on all of us.

The impact of the speakers and panelists was profound, as they shared their expertise, experiences, and innovative solutions to the challenges facing our immigrant, refugees and  in particular DACA-mented communities. Their inspiring talks sparked new ideas and perspectives, igniting a collective passion for positive change. The art project, too, was a testament to the power of creativity in conveying important messages about what 'home' means for each of us and it brought a unique dimension to our day.

Beyond the formal sessions, it was heartwarming to witness the joyful connections and friendships that were forged during the Convening. These bonds are a testament to the sense of community that we have fostered over the years in this region, and they serve as a reminder of the strength that comes from unity and collaboration.

Among those joyful connections were multiple DACA-mented young people connecting with our guest speaker Karen Tumlin. She will be taking several DACA-mented Arkansans to Mexico along with me to help ensure that they get to travel abroad and safely return to the US. If you know any DACA-mented young people who would like to travel via this Advance Parole opportunity, please reach out. As we expect DACA to be terminated by the Supreme Court next year, the clock is ticking on DACA-based travel abroad.

Whatever the future holds. as we move forward I invite you to review the AID Convening 2023 Impact Report, which provides an overview of the event. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and I kindly request that you take a few moments to complete this short survey form. will help us improve future Convenings and continue to serve our community better.

Once again, thank you for being a part of the AID Convening 2023. I look forward to seeing the positive changes that will undoubtedly emerge from the connections and ideas that were nurtured during our time together.

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or suggestions, or if there is anything else you would like to share. Together, we will continue to make a difference and inspire positive change.

What People Said

It was my first time going. I truly enjoyed it, meet lots of new people and learned so much that would help in our organization

The day was magical. I felt inspired by the amazing work being done by members around the room, connected to new people by our shared passion for this work and further spurred on to excellence and perseverance in my own part of the ecosystem. Thank you for hosting! I can't wait for next year.

That was really up-to-the-minute information on DACA and good practical ways to help immigrants with certain problems. Really appreciated all presentations

I was overwhelmed with the connections I made and the ideas to creatively assist current DACA students to open doors for their future.

Attending this was perfect timing in that when I came back to work over the next couple of weeks, I was able to utilize what I had learned about resources in the community and connections that had been formed to help families that I work with within the schools.

Hearing the experiences of Dreamers and their families altered some long-held beliefs that I didn't even know I held. I was greatly encouraged by the messages of welcome
